Hi Mom
Thank you for all your wonderful letters!!! I really appreciate all of them and your packages!! Spanish is going great, I'm understanding it a lot better than I did in school. Everyday has been exciting here!!! I've been on the same schedule of studying, eating, teaching, and learning. It's all been a great experience!!! I love my packages nobody elses mom does anything like that, they are awesome!!!! I've only got 2.5 weeks left, I'm excited for it. The language is coming together and I'm picking it up pretty well. I try not to focus on the language and focus on the investigator and the spirit!! Teaching investigators here is a big help and its good practice to help us do better in the field!! We do everything in Spanish. Thank you for all the advice, personal revelation is something I want to get better at because I know Heavenly Father wants to tell me things all the time. I love you with all my heart, be safe and keep being awesome!!!

Dear Best Dad in the world
Thank you for all the letters you send me!! I appreciate them so much!! My badge is in Spanish and the only place I use English is in the MTC. Once I get to Mexico its all Spanish. I'm not going to know how to speak English anymore. I miss being there and giving you guys hugs and kisses! I really miss your blessings! I understand its a lot harder to send things to Mexico and it costs more and it could very well get stolen. If your sending valuables do it now. I'm doing awesome and I know I'm in the right place.

Hello my favorite mother
Everything is going great! My companion and I didn't get along for a little while but we worked through it and now everything is great!! Being district leader just give me responsibility, I'm know more important than anyone else. I get the mail for my district and I conduct meetings in class and attend leadership training and simple stuff like that. I get to work out everyday and it's really nice! This past week I got hurt weight lifting and I got a really bad sprain in my elbow. I went to the doctor and at first he thought that I had broken something so I had to go get an x-ray but luckily every things fine. It turned out to be a bad sprain so I had my arm in a sling for a few days. Carson and Josh are companions here and they got called as zone leaders!! I will send pictures soon, probably in the next letter. I have about 110 of them. Thanks so much for the donuts!!! They were gone fast.

else. A while ago a mission president her was afraid for the safety of the missionaries so he came and drove to the MTC and he saw the Army of Helaman standing outside the MTC protecting it. Then one time a mission presidents wife walked outside in the front of the MTC and she saw a horde of devils and evil spirits racing towards the MTC from across the missionary field and out of nowhere she saw the Army of Helaman come and wipe them out. Last night we stayed up late talking about patriarchal blessings and seeing spirits and the gospel. While we were talking about spirits I could feel that there were a lot of evil spirits outside our door trying to get in, but we all heard sounds like people shouting and my companion said that he knew it was the Army of Helaman protecting us. He said he could see something keep passing by the door. It was a crazy experience!!! Talk to you soon

Tell Aliya Happy Birthday!!! We had a special devotional and got to watch 17 miracles!! We also had ice cream and got to watch the fireworks! Things are going great!!! It turns out that our first investigator is now our teacher. I went to the temple and it was wonderful!!! It's closed for cleaning the rest of the time we are here. Today is just kind of a relax day, Dad you can still call me son. Love you Dad

I got both packages you sent to me!!! Thank you SO much, I really appreciate them!!! You can just keep sending food and stuff. I just saw Josh, Tanner and Carson yesterday and today! They're doing great and it was so nice to see them!! The food has been ok, its given me a little bit of the runs but nothing bad. We got to see fireworks and have ice cream. Everything is going good so far. We have been learning so much about the gospel and teaching it in Spanish! I really enjoyed spending time with you this past week, those blessings were such an awesome experience! I hope that I get to have many more experiences like that! Hey mom
My first 2 days have been great! Last night my branch President called me as the district leader, I guess I'm already starting to experience the leadership that's talked about in my patriarchal blessing. I was so glad I got to see Derek, it was nice to see a familiar face! Thank you for being such an awesome mom! I'm going to work as hard as I possibly can! My first day was exciting! We do lots of class work and we always talk in Spanish. I'm starting to think in Spanish and its coming really fast. My companion is Elder Allsup and he's super awesome! We also have 2 other missionaries in our room that are going to Mexico. We're having a lot of fun together! Tomorrow we get to go to the temple finally! I love you mom, I hope your ok.

Jonathan's first letter home written June 26, 2013
Dear Mom & Dad,
I love you guys so much! My first day has been so great! My new companion for the next 6 weeks is Elder Allsup. He's from Harriman Utah and he's going to Tampico too! He also came in today! We had such a spiritual learning experience today during some of our classes! It was so wonderful to hear other missionaries experiences! There is such a strong wonderful spirit here its amazing! I love you both so much! We had an orientation meeting, met the Presidency, went straight to classes, and did so much! Everone is so friendly! Thank you for everything!

MTC Arrival
JUNE 26, 2013 12:45 p.m.
As a treat we headed to Kneaders for Jon's last meal before entering the MTC!
After breakfast we headed to the Provo Temple to say our goodbyes.
Then reality hits and we have to head to the MTC to start the longest 2 years of our lives.
We are so proud of the choices Jon has made and know that he will make a great missionary!
